Common questions
- What is Iroiro Japan?
- A free collection of practical guides, calculators, interactive city maps, and a daily news article rewritten at five JLPT levels (N5–N1) with furigana and vocabulary, for foreign residents and visitors to Japan.
- Is the information official advice?
- No. Iroiro Japan summarizes publicly available information for convenience and learning. It is not legal, tax, or immigration advice — always confirm important decisions with the relevant official source or a qualified professional.
- How do the daily news articles work?
- Each day we publish one original educational summary of a real Japan-related story from official and public sources, rewritten for every JLPT level. Tap a level to change difficulty, toggle furigana and the English summary, and review the vocabulary list.
- Are the calculators exact?
- The salary, resident-tax, and PR-points tools are estimates to help you plan. Real figures depend on your municipality, employer, insurance, and current law. See the Disclaimer for details.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Iroiro Japan is free to use. If you'd like to support it, there is an optional donation link in the footer.
